Gosh. It's the 2007 already. On New Year's Day 1Utama set off a steam of fireworks in the sky, which was visible from my house (hehe. good to live nearby)! Anyway the 10 minutes display wasn't all that impressive. The 2005 New Year fireworks were spectacular, with various colours and even heart-shaped explosions! Wooo.
Just came back from Central Market KL coz Ron wanted to go there to get some souvenirs for his U.S. friends. I like the Pasar Seni. It's so artsy. The shops are quaint and some have this mysterious gypsy woody feel about them. Absolutely thrilling. There was this shop selling only shells. Chandeliers made of shells, huge heavy (original, the shop lady said) shells for decorations, curtains made of shells, these collages of shells. All shells. Very funky.
Antique stores came in abundance, approximately every 5 steps can get you to one antique store loaded with furniture, ornamental and elaborately carved wooden sticks, strange masks... whatever. Some of them are loaded with intricate pieces jewelry and Sis was going wild. But those merchants in the building... Aihz.. Rips people off like no tomorrow. Basically daylight robbery. Dad was trying to haggle with them, telling them that we are not foreigners so they don't have to rip us off. LoL.
So after a while, Dad led us to yet another antique store named "Precious". And it turned out to be a Nyonya restaurant! Fascinating. They had beautiful coloured-glass doors, many Buddha-like statues, strange signs on the walls and loads of pottery displayed on walls. Quite a nice change to be dining in such a restaurant. S'like going back 50 years in time. Dad reckons the doors were made more than a century ago. So we had this petai-belacan-sotong(!) , sambal kangkung thing, a crispy-skinned tofu, and chicken rendang. Food was delicious. The coconut-milk rice was bluish in colour. Anyway am not really enthusiastic about Nyonya food. There's so much santan in them. But the ones in Precious are good. =)
Anyway....! Am majorly pissed. I still haven't received my Monash offer letter. Dammit. Wingie already got his. Yoong-tart said "everyone" he knew had already received theirs. !!! Arghh!! And i registered earlier than Wingie. Crap ass lousy Monash woman. Am so definitely qualified. I bet they did some half-assed job and messed up application! Hmm.. Let's hope Mr Postman brings me some good news tomorrow morning.
