If you're craving for yoong egg tarts and wondering where the hell to get them, search no more, for this is where you can purchase some of the best egg tarts around.
Canton-i.
Yup. Despite specializing in noobles and congee, they bake and sell some fabulously delicious Hong Kong style egg tarts.
You can buy (or gawk at) the egg tarts at this little take-away (外卖) kiosk.
Oh they don't look exceptionally spectacular, but sink your teeth in them and you'll think otherwise!
The crust of the egg tart is incredibly light and fluffy and it is nothing short of divine! The egg filling is flavourful, smooth and light. Crust and filling combined creates a orgasmic melt-in-mouth experience. Aaaaaaaaah!!!!
Oh, and if you buy a box of them eggtarts (or various types of baked goods), you get this fancy plastic bag which i find quite artistic and creative. The eggtarts are sold in pairs for 3 bucks + tax (around 1.60 each). When i went there the other day, they had 5 left and they refused to sell the fifth one, much to my annoyance.
Canton-i's eggtart competitor would be John King, which is situated in the lower ground floor of 1u. John King's logo claims that it is Hong Kong's egg tart king. 0_0.
John King's 'original' egg tart has the same crust texture as Canton-i's. However, its egg custard filling is bland in comparison and has an artificial aroma to it which tastes something like artificial almond flavouring. However, John King's egg tart is slightly larger than those at Canton-i.
John King has a variety of egg tarts such as durian tart and cookie-crust egg tarts. Half a dozen is sold at 9.60 (also 1.60 each).
If you ask me, i will recommend Canton-i. But if u want a bigger (but suckier) egg tart, go to John King. XD
