Gah!
Freakishly tired. I was working yesterday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Scary huh. Jun from Events needed extra manpower to help out during the company events so i signed up.
I slept at 4, only to be ringtoned out of my fleeting slumber by Jes's morning call at 4.30. I spent a groggy half hour on the massage chair, then got ready and Fish picked me up to meet up at Jes's apartment. Picking up Gim, we reached KL Convention Centre at around 6.30.
The loading bay at KLCC was kinda cool. It looked like some zombie movie setting. After we dumped our stuff in a trolley, we went up a canggih elevator (with horizontal doors) right to Banquet hall 3. That was where the event was held. National Investor's Symposium (NIS), co-organized with RHB and the Star Online.
My role was pretty simple.
6.30 - 9 a.m. - help with the setting up: laptops, display LCD monitors, banners etc.
9 - 10.30 a.m. - pair up with the other WS and we were to do registration for Investor Relations (another event held on the same day).
Reached there at 9 only to find a team of chefs and waiters setting up some extremely beautiful trays of finger food. Hmph! Such pretty food sitting there and i couldn't touch any. XD
So apparently we were given the wrong time. Investor Relations was a lunch meeting, so we checked back at 10. The "VIPs" started arriving at 10.30. By 11.30 they were all inside the dining room.
Freakishly shiny silverware! X(
Good news was that we were allowed to help ourselves to the finger food.
Some of the best finger foods i have ever sampled. Excellent.
Finger food: assorted fruit tarts (mango, kiwi, raspberry, strawberry, blue berry), some vol-au-vents, stuffed cherry tomatoes, and some green chicken relish thingy.
All were remarkably tasty. My favourite would be the stuffed cherry tomatoes. Incredibly flavourful, with a small sprinkle of caviar on top. It looks kinda... ornate too. I wonder how much time they took to do these. The tomatoes were de-seeded too, you know.
So WS and i brought a small plate of these back to the NIS people and they asked for more. But the chef only provided us with a plate of the vol-au-vents (i think they threw the rest away and i was kinda horrified).
11.30 - 1.00 p.m. - lunch. TX went downstairs and packed KFC for us.
1 - 2.30 p.m. Bummed around. Randomly eating pieces of potato wedges.
2.30 p.m. There was some issue with the NIS hand-outs so Fish and I were asked to pop back to PJ to collect the hand outs. We reached Section 17 at 2.45 and waited from them to complete their photo-copying.
4 something p.m. - Reached KLCC Shopping Centre instead! WtF. I wasn't very familiar with KL roads and we ended up driving to some ulu-er places in KL and when the tall buildings were out of sight we knew something was wrong. xD
Fucking handouts were freaking heavy, to the extend that i couldn't clench my fingers together after i carried them. And i had to carry them from KLCC Shopping Centre, to the convention centre. My god. Forearms are aching like mad.
5.30 - 6 p.m. - Packed up and went home.
The pay i get is worth four full days of mindless phone-calling. Can you imagine? Pretty easy. Definitely worth my efforts (or lack... thereof).
