Classes

Classes classes.

I don't fancy lectures that much. For starters, my business stats lecture is in Lt7, which is rather uncomfortable, with stiff wooden seats and bad air-conditioning. Lecturer is Dr Santha (santa!), who is a kindly lady who pronounces "data" as "day-tuh". Her lecture is boring. Period.

Business stats tutorial + com lab was (equally) crashingly boring. Shared the lab with Yean May, which was a good thing, or i would've died of boredom. Tutor is this v. nice + patient lady named Hezlin Harris, who seems to be kinda Malay. Apparently she is a part-time tutor, who teaches in MMU. Tute started off with us having to do some basic form-3 standard algebra (supposedly with excel), which i did enthusiastically. Been long since i did algebra. Fun! After that we had to revise some stuff Dr Santha did. Actually Ms Harris taught me again coz i forgot. Personally i think Harris is a better educator than Santha coz she gives examples, whereas Santha just drones on and on.

Management lecture is situated in Sunway's wonderful and atmospheric Audi 7, which is the opposite of Lt7. Audi 7 rocks. It has cushioned seats, dim lights, and cool air-conditioning. Down side is that my lecture timeslot is packed like a can of sardines. Lecturer is Karthyeni Puto-whatever-something (only lecturer without a Dr. status), a woman with a large mane of semi-curly hair who speaks English fluently. She teaches in a confusing philosophical way that sends me straight into dreamland. "Management is like a jungle, and we will analyze the trees in the forest."

Management tutorial is my only Friday class. Sighs. Tutor is this dude named Arasan. Nothing note-worthy about him. Had to do ice-breaking, during which i had to introduce myself to the class. Was teamed up with some undesirable teammates.
X( Will have to contact them about my tutorial homework.

Sardine-can congestion also occurs in accounting lecture, also in Audi 7. Lecturer is Dr. Kevin Low ("call me Kevin"), a formidable-looking dude who comes in wearing polo t-shirt with jeans. His lecture is fast-paced and, according to Wingie the Old Bean (and i agree), is the best so far. "Failing rate is 25%. Ah 4 of you here. One of you will fail!" Brr.. Have no intention of becoming one of those unfortunate 25%.

Accounting tutor is this strange little woman called Renee (re-nay. ree nee. LoL) Tan. She's nice and all smiles. Have yet to discover whether or not she has knives hidden in her smiles though. She dismissed us after taking the attendance and after asking "any questions?" for more than 5 times.

MicroEcons lecture once again in Audi 7. Guess it's the only large Auditorium to fit in loads of students. Microecons lecturer is Dr Wong, a funny balding man. Funny, as in the way he looks and acts. He's v. comical, with tiny bird-like eyes.

Econs tutor is v. scary. Small little guy named Alvin. When he first came into class, Mother Teresa said "he looks like a kid.." One of his eyes are problematic, as it only stares to the front. Possibly the result of some accident + surgery. Anyway that's one of the reasons why he's so scary. He seems to exude some killer aura that shuts everyone up. Like some sorta chi. Brr.. Freaky. Alvin is quite a nice person actually, and v. insightful. He kept making some sorta lame jokes and everyone was too terrified to manage even a small giggle. Btw Alvin is totally against gay marriage. Better not let any gays know.

That about sums up all my classes for week 1. V. much different from CIMP's sausage stuffing, but i'll manage. S'good to get mechanisms in brain functioning once again after a three-month wait.

Accident

Thank God and the tortoises i set free yesterday. Got into a little accident today, nothing life-threatening. Traffic was fucked up this morning, with cars flooding the roads at approx. 7.05. Got into the snail-paced traffic behind this blue Proton Saga, and it suddenly braked. So i jammed the brakes to avoid hitting it, but the car behind hit me instead. -_-"

Pulled over to the side to inspect the car. God bless Honda for making their CR-Vs tough like shells. All i got was a scratch on the spare-tyre box. The old uncle who crashed into me wasn't that lucky though. He drove those super old generation Mercedes. Its bonnet became kinda dented. Fortunately, the old uncle was a nice person. After realizing that my car was fine, he told me he'd settle his car himself. Then i hurried off to my class.

Horrible thing to happen on a Monday morning though. Ah well, it's like the Chinese saying "不幸中的大幸", unlucky to be involved in an accident, but lucky that nothing life-threatening happened.

***
Freaky thing happened today in the parking lot. Was starting car to go home after class when this strange and desperate-looking girl knocked on my window. "S'cuse me can u help me unlock my steering lock? I can't start my car, today is my first day of driving!" Feeling bewildered, i went to her car, which was a gray Myvi. She handed me her carkeys and i realized that her steering wheel was locked. Unlocked the wheel by just pulling it down a bit and started her car. She was most excited and thanked me profusely. LOL! Really freaky. Happened to me b4, when i twisted mum's keys like crazy and it wouldn't start until dad taught me how to unlock it. My good deed for the day, huh.

Sausage

My gratitude to those who wished me happy birthday, whether on time or not. I appreciate your time taken to type me those msgs. Thanks. =)

****
Gosh i feel like an enormous piece of sausage. Floppy, wobbly and boneless. Yeap. That's what i feel now, squishily slumped onto my chair.

Didn't know chain watching shows is so exhausting! In the past 24 hours, i watched 14 episodes of Heroes, Borat (horrendously vulgar btw), Take the Lead, Underworld and Disney's Cars. Phew. 12 episodes of Heroes took me till 5 this morning, after which i fell dead onto my bed. Was inhumanely shaken up at 11 to go to the temple where i had to chuck 3 tortoises (with my name written on their shells) into a river. For good fortune, i think. At least, for the bad to go away. Or both.

Horrifying thing happened in the temple. Grrargh!! Was supposed to burn some ritual golden papers to appease the Gods and etc.. T'was really windy (matches got blown out) today so i had no choice but to light the papers from some candles, then streak at the speed of lightning and chuck the burning papers into the furnace thingy. So while i was streaking, one of the burning pieces of paper flew up and terkena my hair. Tssssss! Singed my hair! Sis was laughing so hard. I had small speckles of incinerated hair (ashes?) falling all over my neck. X( Worse still, those that were partially singed curled up at the ends, so now part of my hair is frizzy like lion mane. Am gonna soak em in moisturizer.

Been sleeping at 5-6 am these past 3 days and my body clock is totally screwed! Thank god (and the tortoises) i only have 1 lecture tomorrow from 8-9. Then i can come back and regenerate.

Whee!

I am now officially 18 years and 34 minutes old.

Now

Let's see.

University life starts in 3 days. My timetable's messed up a little, coz i have 1 management tutorial on Fridays. 9.30 - 11. Damn. Tried to re-allocate it but other possible timeslots are full. Only available ones either clash with my other classes or are late in the afternoon.

Sis told me to just barge into the tutorial i want even though it is full. Apparently the lecturers are pretty nice, and i can tell them, "i live in tmn tun and it's really really time + petrol money consuming to come all the way on fridays just for 1 tutorial." Hehe. Brilliant. Hmm but wtf. I have only 1 class on Monday, but it's a lecture so the timeslots are more restricted.

damn ganas...

my colleagues were "mad" at me for taking emergency leave last Friday and so they want me to buy them lunch today...

me: wei...no money lah. CNY must forgive and forget okay?

colleague S: forgive and forget but it's still gonna be like that *smiles*

meaning... to belanja also. it rhymes leh! lol.

damn suck blood lah these ppl =(

Arghhh!!

Became my parents' cashier for these 2 days. Urgh. Absolutely sickening, having to write bills all night long.

Rain

Bah. Horrendous weather this morning. Initially booked a tennis court from 7-10 am near my house, but when i woke up at 6.45 it was raining. The rain didn't cease (and increased in volume at around 8.30) until 2 something. And so my plans to play tennis were ruined. I felt really cheated, though nobody was to blame other than the weather itself. Went to the court at 3 something and the man in charge, who himself witnessed the rain-sodden morning, was most sympathetic and allowed me to play then. =)

Tennis is stressful, and so difficult to play. It requires so much running. Bleargh. Am just not a sportsman. At least i can't hurt my fingers playing tennis, and that's wonderful.

Hmph. Didn't get as much ang pows as i hoped i would get (I did, however, receive more Chinese New Year wishes than previous years). So far i only have a hundred-buck one from this Mr Steven Tan dude. Has a lot of prefixes in front of his name, but am not sure. Dad made this pact with his bros not to give each other's children ang pows. So me and sis are not v. fortunate. My maternal relatives are all in Taiwan, and all divorced. So no angpows there either.

Silver lining of my no-ang-pow raincloud is that i don't have make sickening visits to other relatives. My friends who have 20+ (excluding offspring) uncles+aunts+ sueh chek, ah sims, whatever u call 'em in respective dialects, have to go back to their hometowns to congregate and socialize with their not-so-related relatives.

I absolutely dislike such horror events. Since am the youngest ever grandson/nephew/cousin, i have to smile at those strange old people of whom i have no memory whatsoever. On the other hand, each time they see me they claim to have seen me crawling as a toddler/playing on the swings as a child etc. And they never fail to say how big i've grown. Am not anti-social or anything, but those ppl and i do not share the same medium of language! They only speak teochew. And i cannot understand teochew, let alone speak it. I only know a few words (e.g. yes. no. eat. rice. porridge). Each time i am around them, my parents will nudge me and say, "this is your so-and-so y'know. Call him your sueh chek. Don't u remember? Last time when u were dunno-how-old, he carried u b4!" Urgh. X(

Miss the asam laksa in my dad's hometown though. And the beef kuay teow (gu bah kueh, some teochew i know ;P) of Parit Buntar. And of course the fresh fish curry of Fishing Village Kuala Kurau. Hmm..

Thursday, February 15, 2007

Bleargh. Went playing basketball these 2 days. And on both days, i hurt my middle finger. My right yesterday, and my left today. Damn. They can function like normal, but hurt when i bend them. Bloody ball has a vendetta against my middle fingers. Sighs. Must learn to keep my fingers slightly bent at all times.

***

Monash diagnostic English test was quite easy. Just some error correction, MCQ comprehension, and a 250-word essay in which i wrote too much. Have this hollow sinking feeling that i might fail. Hehe. Good to know my paranoia is still working.

***

Wingie and Yoong gave me their drugs. Gosh. Hardcore drugs. Sis told me about some of her friends' dietary success. Recently she put on lotsa weight, and is distressed coz she cannot put on her fantastic pants, her 2 corset tops, and split the seams of her cutoffs. Anyway her friends HarCca, are insane. 1 whole month of strict protein diet. X(
Adding to the misery: no eating of junk food and only plain water. Torturous concept, denying oneself of all the delights of the world. Maybe i should stick to duromine.

***

Watched Ghost Rider yesterday. V. cool. For those who haven't seen it, do so. =)

Hmm!

So after 3 boring months of holidays, i still haven't completed my Final Fantasy 12! Saddened by this, as it is the only Final Fantasy i've played that failed to seize my attention for weeks. FFs 7,8,9 & 10 got me hooked as i was on ecstasy, with me playing through the night without eating (proper meals, that is..), collapsing dead on my bed countless times, obsessively browsing online game guides... But FF12.. *grimace*.

On the bright side, i did manage a 100% completion for Megaman X8. V. fun platform game. Tricky at times, always frustrating, but completely satisfying. =)

**

Went for Monash's orientation these 2 days, and i regretted dearly for even showing. Waste of my precious time. Followed brown bear there yesterday, and we had to listen to a bunch of speeches.

Then the MUSA ppl invited a s2pid cock of a man from California Fitness to come and teach us dancing. God. California Fitness is pathetic. Celeb Fitness has far more qualified dance instructors, no competition there. Luciano rocks. G is atrocious, but groovy. Thomas is gay, but the ladies love him. They're cool. They don't invent ridiculous dance routines. They don't forget their moves and say "aiya. sorry. wrong". Bleugh.

This morning i woke up late (at 9.45) for the 10 o clock orientation. Rushed at break-neck speed to Monash, reaching there 20 mins late. But i sat there and listened to a bunch of speeches.. -_-" Those doctors and professors have really nice titles in front of their names, yeah... but man.. They need to take some public speaking course. I think they'd lost the ability of speech when they were writing their thousand-page thesis. They should join CIMP. LOL!

Tomorrow i have to attend a crap Diagnostic Test at 1.30. Should be easy peasy.

**

Speaking of gym and fitness. I did a lotta running yesterday. Did my first round in gym. And i went to the night market at ss2 after that. And just when i reached, it started pouring. !! So i ran. And ran. And camped out at wai sek gai until the rain subsided. And i rushed out and purchased 15 pieces of super fantastic yam chai kuih thingy. Then it rained even heavier so i had to run (while skilfully dodging umbrellas, pouring streams of water, people, water puddles, poor handicapped beggars, and more ppl) back to the car. Running in the rain is fun though. V. therapeudic.

Sighs. No matter how much i run, and how much weight i lift, i can never lose more than 3 kgs, coz everytime i come back, i see a lotta food on the table. And i eat them. X(
Most weight i lost was back in Form 4. 10kgs. But back then i had FF10 (play from 7pm till 5am with little food. sleep till 5pm. rinse and repeat) + the super effective but deadly duromine. Now i have... a wobbly body. Wingie + Yoong! Gimme your discipline drugs.

**
Fuck. My iPod hanged just now. -_-" Off to bed now.

Owww!

Wonder how does Michael Jackson scream "Owww!!" in such a high-pitched way.

Thursday, February 8, 2007

Hmm

Went jogging at gym yesterday.

I envy those who can jog like gazelles - effortlessly, and without having to stop for a gasp of air. Like the machines in gym.

Y'see. Me n Yz have this grouping technique, which is v. brilliant. There are two main types of ppl in gym. Agi(lity)-based and str(ength)-based.

Agi ppl are those stated above. Insane gazelles. They run, dash, and sprint like well-oiled machines.

Str ppl, a.k.a. Rock Golems are those who can carry hundreds of kgs of weights and can do repetitive sets without breaking a sweat, like well-oiled machines!

And of course there are ppl in between those two categories, e.g. myself, who are, unfortunately neither here nor there: unable to carry too heavy burdens, and unable to run for too long a period.

Yet there are ppl who belong to both categories. Godly.

And now i will go to the gym. And jog. And train. And carry weights. So that one day, in the not-so-distant future, i might become a godly gazelle-rock-golem-hybrid.

Broke

Being broke sucks big time. Was gonna go to the bank few streets away from my house to deposit my sunway cheque + withdraw money (deposit 500 > withdraw 100) few days ago. Arrived there at 9 to find it still closed. Found out that it opens at 9.30, so in order to kill half an hour's time, i went to a nearby mamak and ordered roti telur + toal.

And it was then i realized that i had only 1.20++ inside my wallet. !! Was so bloody embarrassing, not having enough to pay for some cheaplak south indian roti canai (+drink) i usually consider to be affordable by everyone. So i sat there, petrified, not knowing that to do. I darted my eyes around in panic and noticed that there were around 10 friendly indian waiters/chefs/roti-canai-tossers around, who would all turn hostile and would pummel me into a bloody heap of mincemeat should they find out that i couldn't pay for my food.

In the end, after much festering, i skilfully assumed this air of impatience, told a waiter to wrap up my food and said "nanti saya balik ambil". And i dashed into the car and, after throwing the coin compartment upside-down only to find a few measly coins, i drove all the way back home to get money and back to Jasima to collect my toal + roti telur.

After that horrifying ordeal that lasted more than 30 minutes, i rushed off to Public Bank in relief and withdrew some cash, swearing that i would always check my wallet b4 going into a restaurant again.

Ramble

Dad is such a hypocrite.

Two days ago Mum made this pot of Teochew-style steamed rice. When i woke up around 1pm, i saw him eating 3 slices of raisin bread, telling me that he'd devoured all of the rice. Then he ate a large banana.

Wtf.. Outraged that he ate all the rice, i opened a box of kuih nyonya. After my third piece, he had the bloody nerve to contentedly grunt, "hey you shouldn't eat so much, you know. must lose weight."

-_-"

Then he proceeded to explain that all the rice, raisin bread and banana he ate were carbohydrates. Can vomit blood and die.

***

Hmph! Yz was surprised when i told him i had reflexes. "Eh since when dyou have reflexes?" Man... Just because i don't have the compulsion to grab at a basketball flying past me, that doesn't mean that i don't have reflexes. I only need a bit of training. :P

***

Went to the night market at Kepong again. Thank god and all his angels, seraphims, beard-trimmers etc it didn't rain. Bought 5 pirated CDs. Those who're gonna express outrage/disapproval on my purchasing of pirated goods, i tell u this: i don't give a squirrel's tail. Got some nice songs, and am gonna load them into my iPod.

!!!

Oh my god and fuck!

I spent like 10 minutes stretching my mouth open and prodding inside with a tiny-mirror-on-plastic-stick-thingy.

I have got wisdom teeth erupting! Damn. Feels v. strange man. S'like whenever i eat something, the food touches some nerves and i feel an weird twinge. Bloody molars.

Monash?

Ah i finally set my timetable preferences on Monash's Allocate +

Kinda confusing at first, but Sis helped me. S'good to have an elder sibling huh? So if all goes well, i'll be stuck for 6 hours on campus from Mon - Wed, 2 hours on Thu, and Fridays off. So i'll have quite long weekends. =P

Will be majoring in Marketing, i hope. I absolutely cannot stand accounting and banking & finance, which are the majors Wingie's gonna take. Just found out that Sis did double major in Business Stats and Accounting, which is v. sad.

Am never taking double major. Don't want my 3 years of university life to be revolving around business, coz that will make me lose my mind. I want electives! Just too bad i cannot take the Wine Tasting elective offered in Sunway's School of Hospitality. XD

***

Played a bit of basketball at around 11-12 just now under the scorching sun yang panas terik, wearing a shirt and rolled up jeans. LoL. Nearly got sun-stroke. Brown Bear and DingYi were teaching me how to shoot some hoops, coz i suck at basketball. Hmm..
