Nightmre

I don't usually get any sorts of jitters when it comes to exams, but i had a horrendous dream just now.

Exam. 10am.

I woke up, in my dream la, at 9.30... and i haven't studied one bit. By the time i got into my car, it was already 10. Argh!

And then i really woke up, blindly grabbing at my handphone to confirm the date.

Is this some omen or something... Geez.

***
Did i mention i left my pendrive at the printers' the other day? -_-"

Apparently they kept it for me, but when i returned to pick it up, it was nowhere to be found!! So the lady just randomly offered one from the pile of forsaken pendrives and that was it.

This is another new one that Sis gave me from her event at the Star (people always chucking out free pendrives during these ridiculous event launches). Cool, right? Perfect for blur-case people like me, always leaving pendrives behind.

Not a fan of wrist-bands, so i'm gonna just hang it inside my bag. Plus, it's huge, and garishly red, so i don't think i'll miss it la danglin from the USB pod.

Liberated

Phew! Finally, some time to catch my breath. The past few weeks have been nothing but hectic hell. All that juggling between presentations, and research stuff for the lecturers and Dota games, and Final Fantasy...

Finally presented our marketing plan to Jasmine. Not the best performance, but better than expected. Sure, Madeline lost interest and went out for a few times, and Jasmine was a bitch about the contingency plans, but to hell with all that. I am officially free!

At the very least... Free from cumbersome assignments. Next stop? Exams!! Just hiding round the corner. Ideal study plan? 1 week on Marketing Planning, 1 week on Marketing Law. Yeah. Like that's ever gonna happen.

Anyhow i must crank up my grades this semester, to justify my decision to cut down on the workload. Sure kena la, if i get my usual Cs. "Har? Take 4 subjects you get credit. Take 2 subjects you also get credit. Waste time only."

****
Now that i have got some time to kill, here's my Melaka + Seremban trip. Dad had to collect some stuff in Melaka a few weeks ago so i tagged along as a back up driver (sigh, the things parents ask you to do after you get your license, right? thank god i haven't got a younger sibling).

Stopped by at Seremban for beef noodles. According to Dad, Seremban beef noodles were very-the-damn nice laaaaa. Not to mention famous. The GPS was a godsend and was incredibly precise!! It led us to 4 or 5 different beef noodle places, only to find them... closed. -_-" Freakin' ulu areas. Saturday morning, for god's sake!

In the end, Dad and his pasar-going experiences brought us to them beef noodles at this horrendous wet market Pasar Besar Seremban or something. The place was bustling with morning shoppers and just full of Beef Noodle stalls. No Jusco / Giant i suspect. XD

Beef noodles. Pretty decent, yes. Light soup, tender beef. As it was approx 8 - 9 am, a steaming bowl of that was marvellous. However, nothing too extraordinary to shout out about la. Dunno what's so famous about it. Maybe i didn't try the correct stall.

The best beef noodles imo are

i) Taiwanese hot and spicy beef noodles, that i had on the same day, later, in Melaka!
ii) beef kuay tiao from my hometown. they're the BEST.

And you don't just get out of Seremban without these babies...

Siew Paos!!!!! Rachel, my groupmate is a Serembanese! I actually woke her up asking about siew paos and she didn't know how to explain. "Oh you're at the pasar? Are you eating the beef noodles (so it WAS famous..)?"

In the end she mentioned two places, one of them being Asia siew pao or something. So Garmin directed us. Fucking disappointment though... wtf. The pastry skin was a tad too thick. The best siew paos must have super thin crust that just melt off.

Bah. Found out that the actual most famous authentic thin-skinned siew pao was Seremban Siew Pao. Damn! Must ask her to da bao for me next time.

Eating sucky siew pao in Seremban. Such a slap in the face. S'like the other time i ate sucky char kuay tiao from Penang! Such irony.

Saving grace was this super super super glorious blueberry cheese tart on the right. It was just divine. Divine!! Not a fan of the whole.. blueberry cheese combo, but this one was just divine.

***
Now Melaka!

Dad was telling me in the car. "Eh you know what Melaka's famous for..? Its pineapple tarts."

Can. Anyone. Validate. This. Statement!?

When have pineapple tarts become some de facto product of Melaka?

Bah. Not a fan of these fibrous pineapple tarts. Pastry is goddamn crumbly. Not a pineapple fan to begin with.. Always feel as if my tongue got paper-shredded when i eat them.

Dunno why they're so famous la (that is, IF they are even famous at all). Pineapple tarts in Melaka? Never heard of it.

Hing Loong Taiwanese Beef Noodles. Yeah strange, to eat taiwanese stuff in Melaka but these are really really excellent. The lady owner's son actually has a branch open in Uptown, but it's nowhere as good as the original.

Fried Pork Ribs... Heaven. Crispy strip of heaven.

Pretty much a failed Melaka trip, i would say. If i cross check with the things YZ mentioned la, since he's a semi-local. Judging from our MSN conversation

Me: oh this morning i went melaka + seremban.
YZ: u drove there alone??
YZ: did u eat the babi satay?
YZ: did u eat the satay celup
YZ: did u eat the oo jian?
YZ: did u eat the thousand layer cake?
YZ: did u eat the wanton mee?
YZ: did u eat the gula melaka?
Me: eh no wor fuck!!
Me: all the things u listed. i din eat at all!!!

Epic fail!

Plus!

Sis was ranting on and on about all laksas and gula melaka and chicken rice ball.. -_-"

I think next time i'll go with friends, maybe.

Sigh

Who needs overpriced ice-blended drinks when you can have

This? :D

Milo Blended from Murni. Super super super satisfying.

I was getting sick of their fruity ice-blended stuff and as expected, they had Milo Blended. At first i was worried that it'll turn out watery and tasteless but it was extremely rich and thick in consistency. Pretty much fulfills the requirements of a delicious ice-blended Milo, and i enjoyed the entire tankard... thing.

I think i can even ask for stuff like.. teh ais blended. Teh O ais limau blended. Bleargh. Nescafe blended. Barley blended!! WOah. Horlicks ice blended would taste fucking awesome though, i can just imagine the taste!!! Dammit!! Anything goes la, for places like Murni and William's. Such menu flexibility.

Compe

I feel so damn incompetent.

Yesterday i received an email from Grace and another research assistant, Uj, requesting my help to do some printing. Uj forwarded all his journal articles for me to print, as he had a tight deadline to meet and couldn't spare time to print on campus. When i arrived i saw that he had 32 articles!! 32 freaking articles, all nice and shiny and properly referenced etc.

What did i have? 8 articles. 2 of them irrelevant after some brief reading. So it's actually 6.

:(

So after i submitted to Poon, i saw my miserable pile of articles, particularly woe-begone beside Uj's mountain of a stack. I think she wasn't really pleased coz i'm pretty much rubbish... 8 articles. Sighhhh.

Gah! I have another task for Poon about mobile banking. Must work much harder this time!

Anyway, after printing out a at least 500 pages of single-paged articles, one of the researchers in the printing room taught me this magic trick that the printer could do, which was auto-staple! Wtf!! I knew some printers could do this but didn't expect one in the printing room! But it was too late anyway, as i had only 2 more articles left.

I ended up manually sorting out each article and stapling them with the help of Poon.

Argh crud. Which reminds me i need to find taxation articles for freaking Ms Pak as well. Research assistants are such whores, aren't they? Escorts of academia.

family comes first

Sometimes i wonder, why should i bother if i have no friends when i have a beautiful family?
Zillions of friends does not completed me, but this small family do. Although everybody is busy with their own life but when life is treating you bad, look behind and you will know, family is always there.

Best

Best Slurpee flavour ever!!

Yellow Melon is freaking awesome. I like these artificial yellow melon flavours and i'm hooked. :D

When i saw the hideous yellow colour, i was expecting some awful flavour tutti-fruitti. But surprise surprise

jamuan raya perdana kampus puncak alam & puncak perdana

This is the grand raya event for all students, lecturers, and staff from puncak alam & puncak perdana. Based in Puncak Alam courtyard, there are almost 20 booth/stall represent each faculty and department which serves variety of mouthwatering food. Nasi briyani, laksa, ayam golek, soto, nasi kerabu, sate, pulut kuning, lemang, cendol, pastry and the list goes on.

As the organizer, we are the first people to arrive and the last person to go back. Not to mention out of this zwellicious food, i only tend to RASA soto je... mind you, RASA tau, bukan MAKAN. By 3pm, we already left only by the leftovers. Pathetic huh? Well this is the price that we have to take as an event people, we are not there to have fun but we are there to make sure that people are having fun.

I still remember how tiring i am as i slept approximately 2 hours on the night before the event as i was preparing for the upcoming exam. Yes, it is an exam week, with non-stop events and not to mention overlapping assignment is sooo damn fuggin exhausting... I dont really take pictures on that day, there are some in the friends camera, but this is the only one that i have in my storage.

As the organising committee i was incharge of the band. If you notice, when i talk about my event, i always come out with different responsibilities. Yes, differences is my treasure. I dont want to hold the same position everytime because it does not makes you learn new things. Recap, i have been in F&B, protocol, decoration, public relation. This is my first time, in charge of the performances. Obviously a bit thrilled, because music is one of my passion. In this event i have to take care of the boy band personal needs during the event. Besides that i have to guide them what type of songs they should play, what songs they should not, when they should perform, when they should back up the ambience, and when they should just keep shut.

After all everything was fine, except that we are starving at the end of the event! Looking forward for the next event. There is an event tonight, MPG some sorts of prom night for all the senior. Suppose to come to Summit Hotel and give a hand but i refused nicely because asaimen aku banyak gila tak siap lagi! xoxo keep safe

Hwah!

Now. Viva Voce. Or... vulva voce as my dear sister calls it.

"I have viva voce on Thursday."
"What!? Vulva?"

I must have been ultimately lucky yesterday, my goodness.

The questions that Madeline dished out were easy like free candy, well, except for that dreaded financial / marketing performance question that i'd already studied for! Ha! Plus, markeTingdinghooi wasn't there so i didn't have to put up with his unfathomably expressionless face.

Some of my classmates got slapped in the face with some super strange questions that required lots of creativity and strategy and application but i got mostly straightforward ones without any application. The only worry i had was that i didn't elaborate enough. At one point she actually said "Oh? That it?" Damn.

I think Elsa's some baking enthusiast, and previously she gave everyone chocolate chip cookies that were quite delicious. This time, sprinkly cupcakes. A little too sweet for my liking.. The taste of honey was overwhelming, like she poured a whole bee hive's worth of honey into her mixer or something. Definitely not on par with the one from D'lish, but it's damn cool of her to give her students little treats i guess.

Anyway, i got my Marketing Law assignment back and i kicked some major ass. In fact, i kicked all of my classmates' asses coz i got the highest in the form. Nyahahaha! Sigh, i posses such legal wit and cunning. :P

Revision

What a peculiar semester! It's been pretty much rest and relax. I seem to already have all assignments wrapped up. Law's been submitted since dunno when. And we managed to hand in the annoying Marketing Planning last Wednesday.

Next stop is the dreaded Viva Voce. Oh god... I have this ominous sinking feeling in my stomach whenever i think of it. My timeslot's at 2.30, right after lunch break, and that means:

a) Lecturers will feel so full and sleepy that they will listen to my ramblings and suddenly realize that they're absolutely enlightening and give me a flying-coloured pass! or......

b) They'll be so refreshed that they are in the mood for all kinds of probing questions and will listen attentively to whatever i say so that they can spot the slightest mistake...

Obviously i am hoping, with all sincerity, that it'll be a)!

Viva Voce on 8/10. Which gives me a whole month to study for exams on the 10/11, and 12/11.

1 month man! Amazing. My previous semesters only spared me a week at most. And i have already started revisions, involuntarily. Elsa's finished the Law syllabus and has already started revision. Studying for Viva is also... indirectly preparing for MPI exams.

Random #8

Free tickets to premiere screening of Surrogates, courtesy of Nuffnang!

All i had to do was to complete a slogan "If i can live my life through a robot..." in less than 15 words.

"...i would choose the robots from Transformers" was my slogan. Ha!

Free movie tickets are awesome! :D

Not to say a very good movie la... It's somewhat similar to Gamer (though, much better), about controlling robots / other humans... Grotesque, i would say.

Make-up was fascinating though. They managed to give the actors a super fake Barbie-doll porcelain skin texture. That's pretty much it.
