Gasthaus!

I celebrated my birthday at Deutsches Gasthaus.

Sigh. Am no longer a teen (characterized by the fact that my age, now, has no -teen suffix to it).

X(

I was hit with a sudden craving for sausages, and as luck would have it, there is a Deutsches Gasthaus branch just 4 streets away from my house.

Sausage platter. I'm not sure about this platter. It's been quite some time since i had german sausages, and if my memory still serves me right, the ones at El Cerdo and Jarrod and Rawlins tasted better.

They had this juicy-until-wanna-burst-out-of-skin sorta quality, which was just crazy divine. The ones above were quite delicious, but had already been sliced to resemble quadruple-tentacled octopuses (octopi sounds weird).

Pork Knuckle! Freakin' huge knuckle, i must say. The skin was a tad hard, crunchy yes, but hard. Meat was delightfully tender, and flavourful to boot. This one's better than the one at El Cerdo, i'm afraid. Not bad, not bad. Served with this slightly salty sauce, potatoes, mustard and greens.

Apparently, when my parents went to Germany, the people there are able to each devour a pork knuckle. Scary.

Spanish seafood paella. This dish is good, by my standards. Dad didn't like it. Oh well. He's a chef. I bet he can do better, but who cares? The paella was incredibly fragrant, no doubt due to the saffron. What i like about it is the large grains of rice used. Seafood used was okok la, not the freshest. Somehow i kept thinking that it was risotto instead, as they're similar.

Pork chop with red wine sauce thingy. I consider ordering this a mistake. The texture of the pork chop was kinda strange; it was too thick that it was tasteless near the middle and it was soft but chewy. Not too good. The sauce, however, was delicious. Definitely not what i had expected of "red wine sauce" as it tasted exactly like marinara sauce. Good nonetheless, just right for marinara sauce, not too salty not too sour.

Aha! Hoegaarden. I'll definitely take this over other beer, not that i like beer of course but that's besides the point. Hoegaarden lacks the bitter aftertaste present in beers that i hate. So hurray.

Am not a beer pro so i can't really comment on the "body" and the "balance" and "hints of walnut coloured fruitiness in the palate" or whatever terminology they have for beer tasting.

I like the ambience of the place. Dark, cozy and woody.

My parents and I. People who have posed with me for pictures should know that i absolutely suck at posing for photos. I can't seem to have a smile plastered on my face for a minute or so. There you have it. My unopened eyes. xD

Dad looks really funny in this picture. I have to post this. :D

Tada! Kek ku, courtesy of Sis. Enormous oreo cheese cake from Marmalade, which is some sorta cafe not unlike Delicious cafe. Pay them a visit in Mont Kiara / Bangsar Village II if you like. They have quite a number of good reviews online.

Mum had this idea to put the cake inside a flower basket, which was quite nutty as the oreo crumbs on top fell all over the carpet and on table and inside basket as well.

Nyahaha! This picture is super hilarious! And retarded. I look as if i have a flower on my head. xD

Sigh... Glorious glorious oreo cheesecake.

Rain

Bleak, bleak day.

Cold. Much colder than the sunny days i'm used to when i would perspire like a beast of burden without the air conditioning.

But not today. It rained the whole freaking day, since 4 a.m. It came in torrents. It came in icy sheets. It came in silvery drizzles. It came... in dense showers. And then, it poured.

After the cats and dogs had cleared off, for considerably quite some time, i drove off to the basketball court.

Not a soul to be seen on the court, but field next to the court was packed with people in some sort of neighbourhood-watch-gathering-cum-police-speech.

I sat around wondering whether the meeting would be distracted by the noise of a bouncing basketball.

Then... i felt raindrops falling on my head. Polka dot water stains began dotting the court floor. Catching a glimpse of a few umbrellas popping up from the neighbourhood watch crowd, i made my escape back to the shelter of my car.

That was 9p.m.

Now it is well past midnight and here i am, sitting, blogging and listening to the rhythm of the falling rain, falling outside, falling in a sickening dense shower.

Here i am, sitting, fuming, and hoping that the rain will just fall fall fall like a cascading waterfall until the freaking clouds are dried up so that my Friday will be a dry one.

I have the nicest friends...

Remember about The Wicked Witch whom I am very fond of? And that she sent me Christmas gift all the way from Singapore two years back? She is based in Abu Dhabi now and look what she offered to send to me once she's settled down!

ssassy...says: i'll send u sand in a bottle fm abu dhabi

ssassy...says: b4 i upgrade n send u crude oil in a barrel

I have the nicest souvenirs too. Crude oil babeh, how's that for a gift? *grin*

I guess it's not my ideal timetable as there's too many afternoon classes. Am a morning person! I like to get things over with bright and early so that i can go home for my afternoon nap. xD

Wouldn't that be perfect? :D

stress

last week have been an extremely stressful week. We r going to organizing ENGLISH SPEAKING DAY this coming 5 March. A competition on drama, storytelling, debate , basically everything about english. I was in charge as the leader of Design & Decoration. Therefore we have to transform the DSB into English Classic Victorian House.

The 200 bucks budget its not the thing but the attitude of the people is much more headache. FAZLY SEYES I RASA NAK SEPAK U SKRG! Fazly, an artistic guy with lots of ideas but comes with zero action. FAZLY SEYES I RASA NAK TUMBUK U SKRG! i respect him as my senior but in this event he is my assistant, and he is just bz wif his gigs rather than helping me. FAZLY ESOK JUMPA SEYES I NAK CEKIK2 U.
I have to do the budgeting, designing, renting the props, buying materialsdealing with maintanence ppl, lighting ppl, and thanks to azfa fo helping today, at least ade jugak lelaki yg actually boleh buat keja.

Nuff bout dat, prof then asked me to handle the 3 stooges guy. *actually i shud not disclose this as it is part of our p/c suprise fo the audience. Tapi na cite jugak! Aku yang kena beli cd charlie chaplin, kena tgk, kena highlight jokes, kena buat 3 scene, kena tulis skrip, kena ajar 3 badut tu buat lawak. BOOOOOOOLLLLLEEEEEYYYY TAAAAAAAAAKKKKK! Dept entertainment ade tp sume keje na suh aku buat. Dalam kelas slalu nak tengking2 aku, bile part keje tau pulak nk cari aku blk kan.Mana pegi sume murid kesayangan ko tu? jahatnya mulut ko sabya, xberkat belajar. *istighfar
Again i have to deal with these 3 guys n so happen to be my senior. One of them is a bruneian. Hopefully they all x buat i penin kepala because i had enuff.

I personally wanna seek apologise from each and everyone of u yg kena marah dengan me these past few weeks sama ada sengaja ataupun tidak because i had gone thru a very stressful week and i just lose control. im so sorry

*to that special someone, thanks for always be there. thanks for yesterday :)

Pepper

Sis was going on and on about Pepper Lunch when she first went there with her lesbian ex.

Ex-colleague, that is. Ha!

So here it is! Pepper Lunch, situated at the Pavilion KL food court.

Pepper Lunch is a D.I.Y. steakhouse. A pretty cool concept, if you ask me. Somewhat similar to Korean BBQ or teppanyaki, Pepper Lunch provides separate sizzling iron hot plates for patrons.

Raw pieces of meat are thrown in and you get to cook them yourself to perfection. And perfection is subjective, hence the hands-on approach.

Sis's Cut Steak. Pieces of cut up steaks, bunch of beansprouts, a raw egg, 3 long beans, sweet corn and lots of pepper for that extra karate kick!

They offer a selection of steaks. I think they had sirloin, rib eye, hamburger steak along with chicken and salmon. All sets come with a bowl of rice. Certain sets already have rice included in the hot plate to be stirred around like fried rice.

The instruction given was to 1. Smear the dollop of butter (on top of the steak) 2. Turn pieces of meat all over until cooked (unless you prefer... rare)

3. Pour sauce
Special sauce available are garlic soy sauce and honey brown sauce. The garlic soy sauce is quite marvellous and goes very very well with the load of pepper sprinkled in the sizzling plate. Honey brown sauce has a sweet taste to it and i don't really like it.

Fur thong's Cut Steak + Hamburger Steak. The hamburger steak is more meaty and tender as compared to the cut steak and much easier to cook. The cut steak needs to be more closely... monitored, as they have a really tough texture when overcooked.

My Chicken + Cut Steak combo. Chicken is quite decently marinated, and tastes great with the pepper + garlic soy sauce.

Pepper!! Liberal amounts of pepper! I like. :D

I would say that my trip to Pepper Lunch was satisfactory. I liked the fact that we get to cook the stuff ourselves, which includes the hardcore sprinkling and pouring of condiments. Might return when i have the crave for self-grilled steaks.

After Pepper Lunch, we headed over to MOF Ministry of Food for dessert. Pretty cocky name, if you ask me, but they seemed to serve quality desserts.

Green tea and red bean gelato. Green tea taste was delectable and added red bean just combined perfectly to produce a divine divine gelato. :D

Thur ordered the cookies and cream one which was... bleh. Cookies were rather stale.

Hi. What's in that bag?

IKEA Curry Puffs. Oh yeah. They're just damn good.

(Reminds me of this English activity i had in Form 2. Evelyn gave us scenarios and we had to construct "thoughtful" questions.

Scenario: you see your classmate carrying a heavy looking box.
Morally correct question: Hi there, can i help you with the box? or something similar.
My question: Hi. What's in that box?

Evelyn wasn't pleased. But to hell with her. I got A in PMR anyway.)

Freebies.

My Underworld screening with Nuffnang was pretty fun, apart from the fact that they gave me row I tickets when there wasn't a row I in the cinema... -_-"

Freebies. Underworld T-shirt, and a limited edition Underworld keychain. The keychain is pretty sexy. T-shirt on the other hand... I gave it to sis coz it was L size. =(

***
Freebies. Heineken Speaker Crates. I redeemed them about a month ago after much annoyance at Menara Millennium.

Sounds refreshing~

Truth be told. I have yet to experience the "refreshing" sounds of the crates coz they run on batteries and i am not arsed up to stuff batteries in.

Anyway!!
My first two cheques ever!! :D:D:D:D

Sigh. Such a warm fuzzy feeling it is to receive money for your own hard work.

Note the vast difference in amount between the two.

sigh

I AM SO EXHAUSTED!!
CAN I HUG SOMEONE RITE NOW....

when you choose this field this is what you have to pay.

Healthy

Gah!

I hate reading about healthy snacks and lists of "best snacks" to eat.

Primarily because i already know what they are, mostly.

And because they don't seem... very tempting.

All the fruits, and veges, and yogurt, and cottage cheese, and hummus, and bagels, and nuts, and chicken breast and tuna...

Sigh.

I need a pack of Ruffles.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button - Very Recommended :)

"I was born under unusual circumstances" And so begins "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" adapted from the story by F. Scott Fitzgerald about a man who is born in his eighties and ages backwards: A man, like any of us, who is unable to stop time. We follow his story set in New Orleans from the end of World War I into the 21st century, following his journey that is as unusual as any man's life can be. Directed by David Fincher and starring Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett with Taraji P. Henson, Tilda Swinton, Jason Flemyng, Elias Koteas and Julia Ormond - "Benjamin Button" is a grand tale of a not so ordinary man and the people and places he discovers along the way, the loves he finds, the keys of life and the sadness of death, and what lasts beyond time.

York

Two movies.

i) Rachel Getting Married
ii) Slumdog Millionaire

I found both rather captivating. Definitely deserve their awards and high ratings. Maybe my taste for movies has evolved to stomach stressful dramas?

Anyway. Food.

S'been long since i posted stuff on food.

When i went to catch Slumdog Millionaire today, i stopped by New York New York Deli for some snacks with Cow and SW.

The Little Black Book. ;)

NYNY Deli has a pretty much American menu, but less heavy compared to Chilis or Friday's. Their menu skew towards snacks, salads, sandwiches and a little bit less of grill and steak.

Cow and SW both ordered a mushroom soup cappucino thing which is kinda so so la. Interesting name, but nothing too special.

Wedges. Crispy outside. Fluffy inside. What more can you ask for? :D

Onion rings. With weird dipping sauce. Pretty ok la. Quite a lot of onion rings if u ask me, for.. i think it was 8 bucks or something. At least they didn't say "4 pieces of onion rings" like what McD did. -_-"

Chicken caesar salad. Again, not too bad.

Inescapable chocolate mud pie! Interesting thing is.. they actually gave me a pie! With some sorta cakey sugary filling.

Honestly speaking.

Apart from the wedges and onion rings, the rest of the food are just OK OK la. Friday's serves a much better mushroom soup. Dome's and many other places serve better caesar salad. And Chilis and Friday's have desserts that kick NYNY Deli's ass.

I wouldn't give NYNY too high a rating. But if you're interested to experience a New York Deli experience, do stop by.

mimi turns 21st today!

Valentyne?

i rasa depends on the individu, kalo die rasa nk celebrate die clbr8, kalo xnk da la. But as a muslim mesti ade limit

Ahahaha itulah yg aku merapu kat tv9 tadi. We was heading to the curve main entrance & suddenly tv9 crew approached us, aku xsempat nk buat ayat mahupun melihat cermin bagi membetulkan apa yang patut. So everything that popped out from my mouth is obviously impromptu . I was hoping that nobody spotted any food on my braces. Da la ko baru lepas makan ayam kan masa tu! Nasib baik xmkn brokoli tadi.. haha

The best part is i got dinner just now so i didnt watch tonight's berita therefore i didnt watch my first clumsiest appearance on tv. Thank god tv9, kalo tv3...

We chilled around mutiara damansara, and at the same time i am surveying price for my next event props & backdrops in ikea, Budgeting the quotation for our stage design expenses. I was in charge in decoration and design for our next event. Penin kepala aku pk macamne nk transform DSB jd English Opera House. Penin kepala aku dgn lelaki yg xfhm bahasa. Penin kepala aku dengan lelaki yg terlampau berbahasa.

After blk dr curve i drop by ely's place. My first time visiting her new home. cantik* And this is what happened just now

PS: Sorry ely, i da rosakkan adik u
