Guinea

Alright, allow me to introduce ZunZun the guinea pig! :D

Ta-da!

Wave a finger in front of his face and he'll lick / chew your fingers.

Most of the time he'll remain in his cage, snacking endlessly on seeds and carrots. He's kind of a picky eater, the little bugger. He'll only eat, from my hands 1) a piece of fu zhuk thingy from his variety of grains 2) alfalfa hay. He would ignore the rest of the seeds i shove in his face. Hmph!

According to YZ, ZunZun was depressed as a guinea piglet (it's actually pup, but piglet sounds much better!) and refused to partake in any sort of peer interaction with his litter, and was consequently given away.

But oh well. He seems to be doing fairly well alone. Some people just need to get away from all the chatter, don't they?

Still exhibits anti-social signs though. He simply detests being picked up and each time i try to scoop him uphe'll scurry out of my reach. And since he wasn't mine, i was cautious as i wouldn't want him to lose his mind and start frothing at the mouth. He's experienced a fair share of trauma, i assumed, being laughed at by fellow guinea pigs? xD

I'm not sure about guinea pigs' exploratory behaviour but this one never leaves his cage. Other pets would embrace the freedom of an open cage and take their time sniffing the surroundings, but not him. He stays inside. And when he is taken out of the cage, he would shoot right back inside.

This led to a brilliant exercise regime devised by YZ's brother. They would chuck the guinea pig out of the cage, and shut the door, leaving it stranded and miserable outside! Then, they would carry the cage to the other end of the room and open the door! And ZunZun will come charging back to his comfort zone, only to have the cage door shut in his face! LoL! Rinse and repeat.

All in all, it was a pleasure to have him over for 5 days. I mean, guinea pigs aren't that difficult to rear anyway, though i was a tad concerned about his incessant scratching. @_@ Oh well. That's a problem for his owner to deal with! Ha! Best thing about playing with friends' pets. I can have the fun, but the ugly-side of bathings and food-purchase and vet appointments and what not, are essentially not my problem.

To end.

My favourite picture of ZunZun. Looks smart, doesn't he? This was when i took him outside and sat his cage on my shoe rack. He became instantly curious and began peering outside his cage. See the length guinea pigs' bodies can extend to?
