Some time ago, a colleague of mine, DL, was asked a question by another colleague of mine, SK, both of whom were sitting in another cubicle just next to mine. Overheard the question, I just wondered why was the answer given that way. So, this is how the conversation went on:
DL (probably she was referring to a man in a web page): This fellow here looks gay.
SK (surprised at her judgement): Huh? How can you tell by just looking at him like that?
DL (sigh...): Haiya... See already you know la...
SK (I guess he was referring to another one): So, that guy there looks gay ar?
DL (thinking, then judging in confidence): Hmmm... That guy isn't good looking enough to look like a gay leh...
Now, having heard all that, I was thinking to myself:
"Huh? What the f**k... Is this how a person being judged to tell whether that person is gay or not?"
A new way to tell if a person is gay? So, what does "good looks" mean in this sense? And I am pretty sure all of you must have heard of this phrase before:
"Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder only"
The judgement is now yours to make.
